Tournament Format & Schedule

Modified Single Elimination Format

The 2024 Gio Cup features a unique modified single elimination format. All five schools – Lincoln, Chiles, Leon, Maclay, and Florida High – will compete in both the girls’ and boys’ brackets. This format ensures each team plays at least two games, with consolation matches for teams that lose in the first round.

As defending champions, the Maclay Boys and Lincoln Girls teams have been automatically assigned the most advantageous positions in their respective brackets. The remaining four teams in each tournament were placed by random draw, ensuring a fair and exciting competition

Game Format

  • Tuesday & Wednesday games: One 40-minute period.
  • Saturday games (3rd Place and Championship): Two 40-minute halves.
  • Tie-breaker: All tied games will be decided by a best-of-5 penalty shootout.
