The Tallahassee Democrat profiles the community outpouring of love and support following the passing of Giovanni Vitrano.

Born and raised in Tallahassee, Giovanni was an exuberant child, full of seemingly never-depleting energy that he funneled into sports including football, baseball, basketball and soccer.

“You name it, my brother played it,” said Copeland, 22. “I loved going to his games.”

On Tuesday, Giovanni’s former soccer coach at Leon High, Scott Evans, published a three-paragraph statement on Giovanni’s death.

“Gio was a larger than life kind of guy that was well loved by the Leon Soccer community,” the letter read. “Whether during practice or in a match, Gio will live through us every time the Leon Lions take the field.”
